hi berny,, depends on the length/size of the boat? it should have a ce plate on the stern which would normally show the maximum outboard allowed for each boat,,,, don't go higher or your insurance will be invalid and your may actually rip the transom off the boat! good hunting Wink

cheers Keith - it says 25hp so thats it then - always like them boats my previous boat was a longliner and the strikeliner was even better - Hunter is ok but not much kop in retrieving anchor but the 40hp engine can push it a lot better than a 25hp ,thanks for replying and hope your backs getting better.... why is the Hunter no good at retrieving the anchor? most people I know with hunters have no probs at all retrieving the anchor?
we had a shortie and then a seajeep... we had no probs at all,,, don't understand your statement at all to be honest Sad

I always seem to get bouy caught up under hull - never had that problem with orkneys or deep vee hull - not being captain birds eye and only been using boats since I was 14, I can honestly say i know what i am doing and if their is an easier safer way of retrieving an anchor I am the one to do it ... affraid pirat tongue I actually prefer retrieving anchor over the bow but need to use the bouy lift with seahog - just my preference cheers

you just need to either back the boat off slightly before you go forward or put a Anchor Yanka on your rope, or a wooden/plastic stopper which stops the bouy going right up to the hull! so there is an easier way to do it Exclamation ,, you just have to ask,,, ,you dont know everything no matter what you say!!!!,,instead of blaming the boat, maybe question your retrieval method???
both the shortie and sea jeep have cathedral hulls same as the hunter,, we never had a problem,, we just asked others and took their advice and practised until we got it right,, that's what being in a club is all about,, we are all still learning ,even today, its when you stop learning and think you know everything that you struggle...
` not being captain birds eye and only been using boats since I was 14, I can honestly say i know what i am doing and if their is an easier safer way of retrieving an anchor I am the one to do it `
maybe not berny, maybe not...??? Embarassed
