Well went out on my own in the end.
When I arrived at the slip at around 7:30 there was already 3 boat trailers on the beach and another guy (Bryan on a boat called Lynn) from the Wirral club arrived soon after me - another billy no mates!
Anyway I headed off to the Sewer bouy in search of the elusive Mackerel and after a fairly uneventful 45 mins or so, decided that I'd try going on the drift as the current was only pushing at less that 1mph and there's always the chance of hitting a "hot spot" or picking up a plaice on the drift.
Anyway ending up with Whiting, Mackerel, Dabs, Dogs, baby tope and tub gurnard. The mackerel was hit and miss, big one's were few and far between and were loners while the joeys, when you found them, where coming up 5 at a time and then disappearing again as quickly as they appeared.

Seems to have been a lot of the Wirral boys out, when I got back on the beach about 4:00 and spoke to a guy from the wirral (another billy no mates) and he said he couldn't find any mackerel all day.

All in all a good day out.

Cheers
Martin
Josam.
