fished this comp today at otterspool, it was patchy and peggy like it always is. we fished from10 till 3.30 it was very slow for the majority of anglers. the two end pegs fished quite well and the pegs by the pontoon. Young Mike brooks won with 14 fish for208 points, england international Bill Lindfeild was second on fish countback. Mark Allanson did the best out of us with 5th place. I managed the 2nd biggest fish with a 36cm whiting so got a few bob back. Biggest fish was a 4lb 7oz codling for Ian Griffiths. Rockling were also caught. lovely day, first of many trips this year cheers

PostSubject: Top 30 Final results.   January 3rd 2009, 22:59

Otterspool was the venue chosen to fish our annual top 30 final.
The finalist were the top 30 scorers after 5 matches.
After a very bitterly cold week a 5.5 hr match was not something I was looking forward to but I awoke to a pleasant, calm morning, not a breath of wind and even the sun managed to smile.
Fishing was very very slow with only Mark Allanson & Bill Lindfield catching a small cod each in the first 2 hrs. Rockling started to show and finally the Whiting.
An hr before high Ian Griffiths caught a 4lb Cod the largest fish of the day.

We fished 2 zones and paid out top 6 places continental style, weight calculation.

1st, Michael Brookes. 2.080 kilo 14 fish £120
2nd, Bill Lindfield 2.080 kilo 12 fish £100
3rd, Ian Griffiths 1.074 Kilo 2 fish £85
4th, Ian Brookes 1.960 Kilo 12 fish £70
5th, Mark Allanson 1.220 Kilo 7 fish £50
6th, Dave Bown 1.250 kilo 6 fish £38.
Largest fish Ian Griffiths Codling 56cm 1.660 kilo £39
2nd Largest Steve Trish Whiting 36cm 0.780 kilo £39

Oh what a lovely day!!

Mr JC Kelly enjoying a coffe break!!

Dave Evans & Steve Trish with shades and dressed for the Arctic !!

I fished next to Mark Allanson and I enjoyed the banter !

Ian Griffiths, biggest fish of the day

Michael Brookes our youngest ever winner of the Frank McClean Trophy. Michael fished exceptionally well last year and he is hoping to be included in the England youth squad this year, we wish him the best of luck and hope is application is successful.

Thankyou to all the anglers taking part in our leagues during 2008.
Dates for the 2009 series will be announced shortly.
