PostSubject: fishing report   September 26th 2009, 21:25

Yes as Keith said we had a pretty good day - lost count of thornback's caught but on several occasions both Tim and I were catching at the same time! :-) must have been over a nest of them.
Never caught any cod, just doggies, whiting and thornies.
The one that got away...
Had a belting bite that was stripping line off my reel - had a feeling it was a conger and expected it to bite through my trace at anytime, however when the inevitable did happen all I'd lost was the bait (sandeel), trace was fine?
Fished Egg Bouy (thornies and whiting), by old wooden landing stage (nowt) and off the rocks Liverpool end (thornies, whiting and dogs).

Bait squid, mackerel, sandeel, blow, black, cockles and mussels.
Cheers
Martin

It is noted with interest Martins report I thought that he only used squid for bait!!!
Nice to see he had a good day.
I fished with Malcolm on Flyer. Malcolm said that it was 18 months since his boat was last in the water so he was just pleased to be out. We caught whiting, doggies, dabs and a small codling. Fishing could have been better but it was nice to be out.
How did you get on Keith? Bet you were surprised that I was fishing!!!

Steve
surprised you and malcolm were out!!!!!!!!! Did malacolm remember how to fish or did you have to show him the ropes again? we fished rock channel, egg bouy, clock tower and the rocks,,,dogs skate whiting dabs and very small codling....we did not add to our total...weather was quite rough in rock channel, never has a bite there,,,colin has a nice skate just under ten pounds,.these were everywhere we went even on tiny dab hooks....so Simply White and lol Marie are joint 1st winners of the summer league with 13 species each...(if lol marie had of got out, their elusive whiting they would have caught easily and they would have won!)...thanks to all that took part...poo to those who have a boat and didnt? Crying or Very sad am working on the Winter League dates at the moment but have to say the tides this year are crap,,so a lot will be 1 day only and not 2 days as normal.....thanks again....keith clown

Hi Steve,

I know, weird that!
I don't know what came over us really, would have been better eating the cockles and mussels ourselves - we'll stick to squid in future! Embarassed

Cheers
