Hello all. On Tuesday , 16th November we took part in the match against a team from Sea Angler magazine. Here's the story starting with some background. Last year, myself, my dad,Les, Mark Allanson, Phil Foster and Billy Ullathorne formed a team to start fishing the newly formed Penn clubmans league. This was being run by Sea Angler to run in conjunction with normal club matches. Another team was formed by Tony Williams, Mal Bell, Paul Brough and Mal Allanson( they had no reserve). Individuals from the club could also fish for the points aiming for the individual clubmans prize. After a few ups and downs and cramming in matches Sefton sac came out as team champions and did well in the individual league too. E-mails were sent back and forth and it was decided that we would fish a match against a team from Sea Angler on a local venue decided by us. We decided to fish otterspool due to it being easy access and close to the pub!
The day arrived and we met at around 10 30 at the Otterspoool pub car park. We were met by a guy called Mal Skelly who owns a company called Bassboots .co.uk. He makes bespoke waders and talked us through the range he offers. Very impressive , and well thought out. He sponsors local ace Bill Lindfield , one of Sea Angler's local contacts and part of the team. The rest of the Sea Angler team arrived, introductions were made and the banter began! Their Team consisted of Editor,Mel Russ, contributing editors Paul Fenech, and Alan Yates, Bill Lindfield and Connahs Quay matchman, Gordon Thornes.
Just before we set of to go fishing Mel Russ said " I have something for you guys" and went to his motor. He came back with 5 brand new , top quality beachcasters from Greys and Daiwa! One for each of the team. I was speechless! Thank for that Mell, A great gesture and much appreciated With all our tackle, bait and clothing sorted we all made our way down to the sea along the Prom front towards the anchor . With rods set up, rigs baited ,by 12 noon we were ready. The shout of "all in" went out.

Tomorrow- The ups and downs of the fishing!
